Andy Murdoch's fine strike - his first goal for the Ibrox club - gave Kenny McDowall's team an interval lead and Kris Boyd struck early in the second half.
Ryan Conroy's deflected effort gave Grant Murray's men hope with 20 minutes left but Rangers held on against the team who knocked them out of the Scottish Cup earlier this month.
