The Renfrewshire derby returns on Friday when Morton meet St Mirren at Cappielow in the Ladbrokes Championship, live on BBC ALBA at 7.45pm.

It is the first league meeting between the teams since the 1999/00 season, when Saints picked up 10 points out of a possible 12 against their rivals - the last of those games was a 2-0 St Mirren victory in Greenock on March 18, 2000 thanks to goals from Mark Yardley and Steven McGarry.

Morton's most recent derby victory was 5-1 in Paisley in April 1999 when Kevin Thomas hit a hat-trick and Keith Wright scored twice for the visitors.

As well as numerous encounters in the Renfrewshire Cup, there have been three cup ties in recent years and none have been short of drama...

2011/12 - Morton 3-4 St Mirren - League Cup - 4,959
St Mirren came out on top in a seven-goal thriller thanks to goals from Gary Teale, Steven Thompson (2) and Nigel Hasselbaink (penalty). Michael Tidser, Peter MacDonald and Andy Jackson netted for Morton.

2005/06 - St Mirren 0-0 Morton - Challenge Cup - 6,542
Saints reached the final of the Challenge Cup, winning 4-2 on penalties in Paisley after 120 minutes of goalless action. Saints went on to beat Hamilton Accies in the final.

2002/03 - Morton 2-3 St Mirren - League Cup - 4,477
Morton looked in control thanks to goals from Scott Bannerman and David Hopkin but Martin Cameron and Simon Lappin scored in the second half and Mark Yardley struck deep into extra time. Both sides ended with 10 men after Marco Maisano and Brian McGinty were sent off.
