Road to the last four: Ross County beat Ayr United 2-0 then thrashed Falkirk 7-0 before winning 2-1 away to rivals Inverness CT in the quarter-finals. Celtic kicked off by beating Raith Rovers 2-0 at Parkhead before knocking out Hearts with a 2-1 victory at Tynecastle.

League Cup pedigree: Ross County are appearing in their first League Cup semi-final since stepping up from the Highland League in 1994. Celtic beat Dundee United in last year’s final to claim the silverware for the 15th time.

Semi-finals: Celtic beat Rangers 2-0 at this stage a year ago but were shocked by Ross County in the last four of the Scottish Cup in 2010.

This season: Celtic won 2-0 at Parkhead on the opening day and triumphed 4-1 when the sides met at the Global Energy Stadium in November.

Team news: Ross County have new signing Paul Quinn available following his move from Aberdeen while top scorer Liam Boyce could return from injury. Recent recruit Erik Sviatchenko comes into contention for Celtic but Tom Rogic is doubtful.
