Ross County claimed a dramatic 2-1 win over Hibernian in the 70th Scottish League Cup final to lift their first major trophy.

Michael Gardyne gave the Staggies the lead after 25 minutes but Liam Fontaine fired Hibs level on the brink of half-time to set up a compelling second half.

Brian Graham had a header disallowed for a foul on Hibs keeper Mark Oxley but the game looked to be heading for extra time until Fontaine's clearance in the last minute broke kindly for Dutch striker Alex Schalk, who pounced to score from close range.

Hibs pressed in added time but Gary Woods made a fine save as County held on to seal a memorable triumph in front of 38,796 fans at Hampden Park.
