Ross named new St Mirren manager

St Mirren have appointed Alloa Athletic boss Jack Ross as their new manager following the recent departure of Alex Rae after a poor start to the season.

St Mirren have appointed Alloa Athletic boss Jack Ross as their new manager following the recent departure of Alex Rae after a poor start to the season.

The 40-year-old had been in charge at the Indodrill Stadium since December 2015 and has previous coaching experience with Dumbarton and Hearts.

Ross guided Alloa into the last eight of the Betfred Cup and they are third in Ladbrokes League 1 but he has opted to join the Paisley club, where he played between 2008 and 2010.

St Mirren chairman Gordon Scott told the club website: "I was very impressed with Jack when we got a chance to meet and am delighted to have him on board as our new manager.

"One of the big plus points for me was Jack being with Hearts at a time when their supporters got involved in the ownership of their club."
