Scottish Cup glory for Caley Thistle

James Vincent grabbed a dramatic late winner as Inverness CT beat Falkirk 2-1 at Hampden to win the Scottish Cup for the first time in their history.

There were just four minutes remaining when Vincent, on as substitute, pounced after keeper Jamie MacDonald could only push out a shot from Marley Watkins.

It was Watkins who broke the deadlock in 38 minutes when he latched on to a pass from Aaron Doran and rounded MacDonald to score but Falkirk hit back strongly in the second half.

Inverness CT were reduced to 10 men with 15 minutes remaining when Carl Tremarco saw red for denying Blair Alston a clear goalscoring opportunity and Peter Houston's men took advantage when Peter Grant headed home an Alston free-kick in the 80th-minute.

The Bairns looked to have the momentum but they were stunned when Caley Thistle broke quickly, allowing Watkins to win the trophy for John Hughes' side.

The result also means that St Johnstone, who finished fourth in the Scottish Premiership, will join Aberdeen and Inverness Caley Thistle in the 2015/16 Europa League qualifiers, with Celtic in the Champions League qualifying round.
