@splstats takes a look at some of the numbers behind the weekend games in the fourth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.
11 Holders St Johnstone started their defence of the Scottish Cup by beating Ross County 2-1 at McDiarmid Park for the second consecutive week. It wasn't just the scoreline that was the same as last week's league match – the same three players scored, with James McFadden and Michael O'Halloran putting Saints 2-0 up on both occasions, before Jake Jervis scored a consolation. McFadden's goal was his first in the Scottish Cup for over 11 years – his previous strike came for Motherwell in their 4-3 defeat to Rangers at Hampden in the 2002/03 semi-final.
18 Dundee United beat Motherwell 2-1 at Fir Park to gain revenge for a league defeat at the same venue three weeks ago. The Terrors have now progressed through their first tie in each of the last 18 domestic cup competitions they have been involved in. They haven't fallen at the first hurdle in either the Scottish Cup or League Cup since Gordon Chisholm's side threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to Aberdeen at Tannadice in January 2006. In stark contrast, Saturday's defeat marked the fifth time in the last six domestic cup competitions that Well have gone out at the earliest possible stage.
10 Celtic defeated Hearts 4-0 at Tynecastle on Sunday to record their 10th consecutive victory over the Edinburgh side in all competitions. The Jam Tarts' last win over the Bhoys came in the Scottish Cup semi-final back in April 2012 – since then Celtic have racked up a 35-2 aggregate scoreline across 10 games. The Glasgow side are now unbeaten in their last 13 away Scottish Cup matches, picking up 12 wins and a draw since losing to St Mirren in March 2009.
6 Hibernian beat Alloa 2-1 at Recreation Park to record six consecutive away wins in all competitions for the first time in 49 years. That run stretched from August to October 1965, and included wins over Morton (twice), St Mirren, Alloa, Hearts and Clyde, before Valencia beat them 2-0 in the Mestalla in the Fairs Cup. The UK number 1 singles during that last run included “Help!” by the Beatles, “I Got You Babe” by Sonny & Cher and “(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction” by the Rolling Stones. The Hibees also continued their 100% record against Alloa in cup ties – the sides have been drawn together 14 times in national cup competitions, and the Edinburgh club have made it through every single time.
5 Arbroath moved into the last 16 of the Scottish Cup for the first time since 1993 courtesy of a thumping win over Bo'ness United on Saturday. The 5-0 scoreline was their biggest away victory in the Scottish Cup since 1893, when they recorded an 8-3 win over Broxburn Shamrock. Only once have they managed a bigger winning margin away from home in the Scottish Cup – that was a 7-1 victory over Aberdeen FC (one of the three sides who joined to form the present-day Dons) back in 1884. The Red Lichties were facing Bo'ness United for the first time, but they had previously played at Newtown Park back in the 1920s and 1930s when the ground played host to defunct senior side Bo'ness FC.
