Alloa Athletic manager Barry Smith has resigned from his post in the wake of Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Dumbarton.
The former Dundee boss replaced Paul Hartley in January of last year and kept the Wasps in the Championship. This season he has guided them to the final of the Petrofac Training Cup against Livingston but has opted to leave after today's result, which leaves Alloa second from bottom.
Alloa chairman Mike Mulraney told the club's official website: "Despite my best persuasive powers to try and convince him to the alternative, Barry has decided that he wants to give someone else the chance for the final quarter of the season.
"I think it wasn’t required - he has been an excellent manager for us and we are in the Petrofac Training Cup Final for the third time in our history.
"We are still in with a great shout of being in this league next season, especially if we play like we did today, but he has taken this decision out of my hands so therefore reluctantly I have had to accept it and we wish him all the best."
