Wasps boss Barry Smith has already guided Alloa to two 1-1 draws against Rangers in the Championship and is hoping to go one better on Wednesday.
The clubs meet in the semi-finals of the Petrofac Training Cup at the Indodrill Stadium, live on BBC ALBA with a 7.30pm kick-off.
Alloa have knocked out Arbroath, Stirling Albion and Morton to reach this stage and Smith is relishing the prospect of a big game against Ally McCoist's men.
He said: "The boys know this is a fantastic opportunity for us and they won't need any other motivation other than the fact that winning this means we are in the final against Livingston.
"Rangers are a top team, and they're full-time, so we know this isn't going to be easy. As long as we go out focused, and enjoy it, that's the important thing.
"The team has gained a lot of confidence from the results we've got in this cup - if we can show the same strength and mentality we've displayed previously then anything could happen."
Alloa are aiming to reach the final for the third time – they won the tournament on penalties after a 4-4 draw with Inverness Caley Thistle in 1999/00 and lost 2-1 to Airdrie two years later.
