The former Motherwell man has helped fire Dave Mackay's men five points clear of Montrose at the top of Ladbrokes League 2.
Smith is one ahead of Lewis Vaughan of Raith Rovers and Stenhousemuir's Mark McGuigan, who have both netted nine league goals. Arbroath midfielder Ryan McCord and Alan Trouten of Albion Rovers have bagged eight goals in Ladbrokes League 1.
