Stenhousemuir continue their fight against relegation from League 1 on Saturday when they meet Queen’s Park in the second leg of the play-off final.

The Ochilview side won 1-0 at Hampden on Wednesday thanks to Jamie McCormack’s goal and a seventh straight season in the third tier will be secured if they can keep the Spiders out.

Leading the Warriors is Brown Ferguson, who enjoyed a long playing career that started at East Stirlingshire and ended at Stenhousemuir, with two stops at Alloa as well as spells with Hamilton Academical and Partick Thistle.

What is the best goal you ever scored?
That was in a play-off semi-final for Alloa against Clyde at Broadwood back in 2008. I hit the ball better than I ever have to score from 35 yards out via the underside of the bar.

What is the best game you have played in?
I have a couple and both are cup matches as I like the do-or-die approach to them. The first was a League Cup tie against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park with Alloa back in 2005 where I managed to score a late winner in a 2-1 success. I also really enjoyed being part of the Stenhousemuir team that defeated Kilmarnock in the League Cup at Rugby Park in 2012.

What is your favourite away ground?
I enjoyed being involved against Rangers at Ibrox last season, firstly as a player and then as a coach. Being on the sidelines when Sean Higgins scored to get us a draw was a great feeling.

What is your favourite other sport?
I work with members of the elite of Scottish sport at the Institute of Sport in Stirling so I have a broad range of other sports that I enjoy. There are athletes there on Olympic programmes as well as top boxers, swimmers and golfers.

Which player in the world would you like to have played with?
Lionel Messi, who is simply different class. It would be great to see him close up and see what he does to make very good players look silly.

What is your favourite pre-match meal?
I do not have a set meal but I tend to have a set routine and eat at certain times.

What is your favourite music?
I like to think I have a decent iPad of music - I have an eclectic taste although I do like a summer anthem best of all. Colin McMenamin looks out some old-school classics for the changing room.

Who was the biggest moaner you played with?
There are too many to mention but Kevin McKinlay is probably the worst. I played with him at Stenhousemuir and he is a good lad but he does like to complain!

Who was your most skilful team-mate?
Paul McMullan, who we have on loan from Celtic just now, is a terrific talent. Back in my Alloa days, Dougie ‘Jinky’ Wilson was a bit special as well and playing against him in training could be a horrible experience.

Who were your worst-dressed team-mates?
Eddie Malone and Andy Rodgers were always bad at Stenhousemuir but, because of the work I do, I am always in a tracksuit so I am sure it is me!

Who was the best trainer?
My brother-in-law Scott Walker was always very professional in the way he looked after himself and that allowed him to have a long career. He would go out and do what was necessary to ensure he was up to the job. Right at the start of my career Gordon Russell at East Stirling was a terrific example of training right and that allowed him to play until he was nearly 40. Of the current players, Ross Meechan has really good attributes that have helped him develop.

Who was the best dancer?!
Brian Fairbairn and Marvyn Wilson were always good value on the dance floor but Kevin McKinlay wins this one as well as he can shift!
