Forfar midfielder Derek Young is aiming to help Dick Campbell’s side clinch promotion when they face Alloa in the Championship play-off final.

The first leg takes place at Station Park tonight and the return game goes ahead at the Indodrill Stadium on Sunday, kick-off 5.30pm – both are live on BBC ALBA.

Young, whose older brother Darren guided Albion Rovers to the League 2 title, has enjoyed a 19-year career that has included two lengthy spells at Aberdeen and stints at Dunfermline, St Johnstone, Partick Thistle, Grindavik, Morton and Queen of the South.

What is the best goal you have scored?

That came quite early in my career at Aberdeen - a 30-yarder against Rangers in a League Cup tie that put us 2-1 ahead and silenced Ibrox. They won 4-2 but I remember my goal fondly.

What is the best game you have played in?
I played against Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon Stadium in 2007 in a Europa League game for Aberdeen. We lost 2-0 but everything about the game was amazing. Sergio Aguero and Diego Forlan played for them and that emphasises the quality of opposition that we were up against but we did the 7,000 Aberdeen fans proud. I had been playing in the First Division with Partick Thistle just a few months before so that game showed the turnaround in my career.

What is your favourite away ground?
Since I am at Forfar now, I can say Pittodrie! Nights like the one against Bayern Munich were special but any time there was a full house for the visit of Rangers or Celtic it was a special ground to be at.

What is your favourite other sport?
It is only football for me and unlike a lot of players I hate golf – it is a waste of a walk! I will sometimes watch boxing if it is on but the only other sport I participate in is chasing my two young kids about the house trying to get them to behave during the day!

Which player in the world would you like to have played with?
Ronaldo – the original one from Brazil. He was amazing and was a real top goalscorer. I admired him when I was younger and scoring a lot of goals when I was a striker in the Aberdeen reserves. Once I made the first team I was played all over the place and never got the chance to take that goalscoring form into the first team with me.

What is your favourite pre-match meal?
It will usually involve pasta, fish, chicken and beans but I do not stick to the one thing.

What is your favourite music?
I quite like music and have a bit of a varied taste. I don’t do the tunes for the dressing room as that tends to be Michael Travis who puts some of his Ibiza stuff on.

Who is the biggest moaner you have played with?
That could be my brother, in fact it is my brother! He was the captain at Aberdeen when he was young and he would get pelters for shouting at the players with his squeaky voice.

Who has been your most skilful team-mate?
I have to go for Eoin Jess who was the favourite player I ever had as a team-mate. Sone Aluko was up there with the best as well but I have to go with Eoin.

Who has been your worst-dressed team-mate?
I don’t have one but I have a country of them! Aberdeen had a few players from Norway during my time there and they were terrible dressers – all of them. They just wore boring colours and hideous shoes!

Best trainer?
I will give this one to my brother as well as he always worked hard during his playing career and has done the same as manager of Albion Rovers. Whatever he does, he puts everything into it.

And the best dancer?!
That has to be Eugene Dadi, who stole the show at an-end-of season trip to Magaluf. He had disappeared for a couple of hours and then burst from nowhere on to the dance floor with a performance full of shapes.
