St Mirren have signed Massimo Donati on a short-term contract until the end of the season after his recent departure from Hamilton Accies.
The 36-year-old can count Atalanta, AC Milan, Bari, Verona and Celtic among his former clubs and will now be hoping to help Saints seal a return to the top flight.
Assistant manager James Fowler told the club website: "Obviously the boys have been doing great and it’s a bit of additional cover. Massimo can play centre-back - as we lost Gregor Buchanan in January and we never really replaced him - and he’s played defensive central midfield as well."
