Dumbarton have signed Ryan Stevenson after he turned down the offer of a new contract with Ladbrokes Championship rivals Ayr United.

The 31-year-old former St Johnstone, Ipswich, Hearts and Partick Thistle attacking midfielder joins fellow new recruits Robert Thomson (Brechin City), Andy Stirling (Stranraer) and Craig Pettigrew (Stranraer) at the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium.

Sons boss Stephen Aitken told the club website: “I've been chasing him since the season finished and I'm delighted that we have signed a big-name player at Dumbarton. He'll bring quality and experience to the squad.”
