Stirling Albion club captain Darren Smith has left the League 1 side after failing to hold down a regular first-team place this season.
The 34-year-old midfielder joined the Binos from Arbroath in January of this year and was a key player in their promotion via the play-offs but he has made just five starts in 2014/15.
Manager Stuart McLaren said: “It is always a difficult time when a decision is reached to allow someone of Darren’s quality and experience to leave a football club.
“That decision is magnified when the player in question is one of the game’s true gentlemen and a thorough professional. In the short time I have worked with Darren I have developed a great respect for him and wish him every success for the future.”
