Dumbarton have signed former Hibernian defender Scott Taggart following his departure from Morton.
The 22-year-old has also had loan spells at Ayr United and Stranraer.
Sons boss Ian Murray told the club website: "Scott can play in a number of positions and will offer us versatility. He can cover across the back four or play in midfield."
Meanwhile, the Championship club have appointed Mark Spalding as a first-team coach. He has previously worked with the Scottish FA as a development officer.
