Thomson to make Morton move

Dumbarton striker Robert Thomson has signed a pre-contract agreement that will seem him move to Morton on a two-year deal in the summer.

Dumbarton striker Robert Thomson has signed a pre-contract agreement that will seem him move to Morton on a two-year deal in the summer.

The 23-year-old former Dunfermline Athletic forward joined the Sons after a successful spell with Brechin City and will now link up with Jim Duffy's squad ahead of season 2017/18.

Morton boss Duffy told the club website: "Robert is a different type to what we’ve had. He can play as an out-and-out centre-forward and with Dumbarton he has been used on the left.

“He’s an aerial threat but he does have a good touch for a big guy and I think that’s important with the way we play. In the summer it’s always very difficult to get front players so it’s good to get someone on board early."
