Vaulks strikes late in Falkirk victory

Will Vaulks scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner as Falkirk beat Kilmarnock 1-0 in the first leg of the Ladbrokes Premiership play-off final.

Will Vaulks scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner as Falkirk beat Kilmarnock 1-0 in the first leg of the Ladbrokes Premiership play-off final.

The former Tranmere midfielder struck from the edge of the box after being picked out by Craig Sibbald as Peter Houston's men claimed a precious victory at the Falkirk Stadium.

Killie had looked the more likely to score in the second half but Sibbald cleared a Kris Boyd shot off the line and Tope Obadeyi should have done better when clean through while Danny Rogers saved well from a Boyd header.

It looked set to end all square but the Bairns continued their recent habit of scoring late goals when Vaulks’ low shot beat keeper Jamie MacDonald with just seconds left.

The second leg takes place at Rugby Park on Sunday, live on BT Sport with a 3.00pm kick-off.
