Warburton signs new Rangers deal

Rangers boss Mark Warburton and assistant David Weir have signed new deals that will keep them at the Ibrox club until the summer of 2019.

Rangers boss Mark Warburton and assistant David Weir have signed new deals that will keep them at the Ibrox club until the summer of 2019.

Former Brentford boss Warburton took over last summer and guided Rangers to the Ladbrokes Championship and Petrofac Training Cup in 2015/16, with Rangers beaten by Hibernian in the Scottish Cup final.

Managing Director Stewart Robertson told the club website: "Our decision to reward Mark and David with significantly improved contracts was primarily driven by our recognition of their role in transforming the football department at all levels throughout the club and their desire to continue with that project in the seasons ahead.

“We have sold more than 41,000 season tickets and, like everyone at the club, our supporters are looking forward to seeing the team compete in the top flight once again.”
