@splstats takes a detailed look at some of the numbers behind the weekend games in the Scottish Premiership:
25 Dundee United's 3-0 win over St Mirren on Saturday moved them to the summit of the Premiership with almost a third of the season gone. United have eight wins and a draw from their opening 12 matches, which represents their best start to a season since 1990/91 (when they had eight wins and twp draws). Jackie McNamara's side have six wins and a draw from seven matches at Tannadice, and they have kept a clean sheet in five of those games.
31 St Johnstone beat Motherwell 2-1 on Friday night to continue a spooky run of Hallowe’en form. Saints have now played 12 matches on October 31, and have yet to suffer a defeat, picking up seven wins and five draws. Their first Hallowe’en fixture was also at home to Motherwell – that came in in 1925, and finished in a 2-2 draw.
750 Inverness Caledonian Thistle's 1-0 defeat at Celtic Park on Saturday was the 750th league match in their short history. Their first game came just over 20 years ago in the SFL Third Division - they beat Arbroath 5-2 at Telford Street thanks to a hat-trick from Alan Hercher and strikes from Paul McKenzie and Wilson Robertson. They are one of just five clubs who have worked their way up from the fourth tier to the first tier of Scottish football, the others being Livingston, Gretna, Hamilton Accies and rivals Ross County. The Caley Jags' overall league record is P750 W306 D194 L250 F1170 A975.
5 David Clarkson continued his incredible start to his Dundee career by scoring in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. Clarkson has now scored in five consecutive Premiership matches, something no player managed at any stage last season. The last player to score in five (or more) consecutive top-flight matches was Motherwell's Michael Higdon, who netted in six straight games between March and May 2013, including a goal against Dundee.
147 Stuart McCall took charge of 147 league matches as Motherwell boss before he resigned on Sunday night. McCall picked up 225 points from those matches – his overall league record was W66 D27 L54. The former Scotland midfielder led Well to two consecutive top-two finishes for the first time since World War II, and led the club into the Champions League for the first time ever. Prior to his departure, McCall had been the second-longest serving manager in the SPFL – only Forfar's Dick Campbell had been in charge of his club for longer. Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara, appointed in January 2013, is now the longest-serving manager in the top flight.
