@splstats looks at some of the numbers behind the weekend games:

8 Aberdeen's 2-0 victory over St Mirren in Paisley was their eighth consecutive league win, and stretched their lead at the top of the Premiership to four points. The original Die Hard was in the cinemas in the UK the last time the Dons managed eight league wins in a row – that was back in January to April 1989. You have to go even further back to find the last time they managed eight consecutive league wins without conceding a goal – that was in the 1970/71 season, when they strung together 12 clean sheet victories in a row as part of a club record 15-game winning streak.

4 Dundee ended an eight-match winless streak in style as they thumped Motherwell 4-1 at Dens Park on Saturday. The last time Dundee scored four goals in the top flight was on August 28, 2004, the same day Kelly Holmes completed her gold medal double by winning the 1500m at the Athens Olympics. On that afternoon, Dundee came from 4-1 down to draw 4-4 with Hibernian at Easter Road, thanks to goals from Garry Brady, Glen Atle Larsen and Jonay Hernandez in the last 25 minutes. Dundee's opening goal in that match was scored by John Sutton, who also found the net on Saturday with Motherwell's consolation goal.

2 Genero Zeefuik netted a double on his Hearts debut to help his new side record a 5-1 victory at Dumbarton, which keeps them 13 points clear at the top of the Championship. Zeefuik became the first player to net a double on their debut for Hearts since Gordon Durie did it in a 3-0 win over Motherwell in October 2000. The Dutch striker also saw a penalty saved by Danny Rogers – had he scored he would have become just the fourth player to score a hat-trick on their competitive debut for the Jam Tarts after James Fairbairn (1891), Walter Bird (1924) and Willie Bauld (1946).

12 Brechin City's 2-1 win over Ayr United at Glebe Park saw them leapfrog Dunfermline Athletic into the final play-off place. Ray McKinnon's side are now unbeaten in 12 matches in all competitions, with their last defeat coming against Stranraer in mid-October. This is their longest unbeaten run since the 2010/11 season, when Jim Weir's side put together a 13-match run to help them reach the Division Two play-offs and a Scottish Cup quarter-final.

2 Talking of Jim Weir, Elgin City continued their upturn in form under their new manager by winning 3-2 away to Annan Athletic. It was the Black and Whites' first triumph at Galabank since September 2010 – they had drawn five and lost three in eight visits since then. Elgin have now recorded back-to-back away league wins for the first time since March 2013. Saturday's success was just their fifth away from home since the start of last season and, amazingly, four of those have come by that 3-2 scoreline.
