Aitchison leaves East Fife

East Fife manager Willie Aitchison has left the Bayview club in the wake of Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Forfar at Station Park

East Fife manager Willie Aitchison has left the Bayview club in the wake of Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Forfar at Station Park.

The former Hearts coach took over from Billy Brown in June of this year but East Fife have won just three of their 14 League 1 matches and sit ninth in the table, three points above bottom club Airdrieonians.

A statement on the East Fife website read: "The board of East Fife Football Club have this morning accepted the resignation of our manager Willie Aitchison.

"The board would like to personally thank Willie for his hard work and endeavour. We wish Willie all the very best for the future."

East Fife have no game this weekend after exiting the Scottish Cup in the previous round - their next match is at home to Stenhousemuir on Saturday December 7.
