Dundee William Hill Premiership

Alan Gilzean

Scottish football lost a legend at the weekend with the death of Alan Gilzean at the age of 79.

'Gillie' was part of the Dundee who were champions under Bob Shankly in 1961/62 and he scored nine goals in the run to the European Cup semi-finals the following season.

He netted an incredible 52 times in 1963/64 and scored a record 169 goals in 190 games overall for the Dark Blues before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in December 1964. Gilzean spent a decade at White Hart Lane, helping Spurs win several trophies, and earned 22 caps for Scotland.

The thoughts of everyone at the SPFL are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
