Neil Doncaster, SPFL chief executive, today paid tribute to legendary Scottish football commentator Arthur Montford, who died yesterday at the age of 85.
He said: “Everyone at the SPFL was saddened to hear the news of Arthur’s passing and our immediate thoughts are with his family and friends, including those at Greenock Morton.
“Such was Arthur’s huge contribution to Scottish football that his death is also sorely felt by football fans across the country, especially those who recall with fondness his 32 years serving Scottish Television and Scotsport and his many famous one-liners during those years.
“Arthur was a tremendous ambassador for the game in Scotland and will be very sadly missed.”
