SPFL Development League East and West matches - ineligible players
During the SPFL Development League East match between Raith Rovers and Stirling Albion held on Tuesday 19 December 2017, Raith Rovers fielded a player as a trialist in respect of whom the correct paperwork had not been received by the SPFL and the player was therefore not eligible to play. The match ended as a 1-1 draw.
Similarly, during the Development League West match between Queen’s Park and Stranraer held on Wednesday 6 December 2017, Queen’s Park fielded a player as a trialist in respect of whom the correct paperwork had not been received by the SPFL and the player was therefore not eligible to play. The match ended in a 2-1 victory to Queen’s Park.
Following hearings before an SPFL sub-committee held last week, both Raith Rovers and Queen’s Park were determined to have breached SPFL Regulations, censured and warned as to their future conduct in this area and given (suspended) fines. The original match results were also annulled and the outcome of the matches recorded as follows:
Revised results:
Tuesday 19 December 2017 – Raith Rovers 0 Stirling Albion 3
Wednesday 6 December 2017 – Queen’s Park 0 Stranraer 3
The three points for a victory were awarded to Stirling Albion and Stranraer and the points previously awarded to Raith Rovers and Queen’s Park were withdrawn.
