Ayr United have made former Queen of the South captain Chris Higgins their first signing of the close season.
The 31-year-old has also played for Clyde and Dunfermline and will link up with the Honest Men for their 2017/18 campaign in Ladbrokes League 1.
Manager Ian McCall told the club website: “I was desperate to get this deal done as Chris has been made significant offers by other clubs in our league and above.
“Chris is here almost entirely as a player but he is a fully-qualified PT instructor so he will be working on programmes to help our younger players with fitness, nutrition, speed etc.
"He is exactly the type of boy we want at this club - top class on and off the field - and this is the perfect way to start the plans for the new season.”
