The big game of the weekend in Scottish League 1 is at East End Park, where second-placed Dunfermline take on leaders Forfar.

The Loons won the first meeting of the season 2-0 at Station Park and go into this one on the back of a 3-0 home win over Stenhousemuir while Jim Jefferies’ men triumphed 1-0 at Ayr last Friday.

The Station Park side's former Dunfermline striker Chris Templeman is impressed with the form Dick Campbell's men are in - even though he cannot get a game.

He said: "The team are playing really well just now and I cannot get a start. We are on an unbeaten run so I definitely got injured at the wrong time. I picked up a hamstring problem at the end of August and the best I have done since then is a place on the bench.

"I cannot really complain as Gavin Swankie and Dale Hilson are doing a really good job. They have not had a bad game in weeks and at the back everyone has been keeping things solid.

“It is probably the best group I have been part of in my time at Station Park. There is a really good mix of young and experienced players but we will not be getting carried away as it is still very early days in the league. We have made a good start but that is all it is.

"It will be a tough test on Saturday, it always is when you play away at Dunfermline. It was a few years ago that I was a player there and I know how big a club they are.

"It was 1999 that I left so not many people associate me with them now. I made seven starts and over 20 substitute appearances so I did get involved. There used to be a few of us with Dunfermline connections at Forfar but there are not as many ex-Pars here now, with Iain Campbell going to Cowdenbeath in the summer."

As for playing a part this weekend, the former Brechin and Stirling Albion striker doesn’t expect to be starting against the title favourites, who have taken 10 points out of 12 at East End Park.

He said: "It is unlikely that the manager will change anything as the team is playing well and picking itself. I would rather be playing but if I have to settle for a place on the bench I will.

"I will enjoy it if we win but nothing will be decided if we do. There is a long season ahead and there are a lot of good teams in this league. There is very little between any of the sides, as was shown when we were at Airdrie the other week.

"We were top of the league and they were bottom and the score was 1-1 as it went into injury time. They had a great chance that Rab Douglas did well to save and then we went up the park and Gavin Swankie scored the winner. That shows you the fine lines in this division."
