It’s first against second in League 2 on Saturday as leaders Arbroath, who are four points clear, welcome Albion Rovers to Gayfield.

The Red Lichties this week sold striker Simon Murray to Dundee United but the division’s top scorer has been loaned back for the remainder of 2014/15.

Ricky Little will miss out with a poisoned toe, Kevin Nicoll will not face his former club due to a groin injury and Scott McBride is suffering from a foot injury but Ryan McGeever has been added on loan from Falkirk.

Arbroath boss Allan Moore said: “We are delighted that Simon got his move to the Premiership and even more delighted that he could get to stay with us for the rest of the season.

“There were a few clubs interested in him but what made the United offer attractive to us was that he could stay here and help us look to win a championship.

“With Simon still here, and Paul McManus in good form, we are OK up front, especially as Jack Smith and Kevin Buchan are desperate to get involved but at the other end of the park we are short.

“Moving Mark Whatley to right-back is easy enough however he has been terrific for us in midfield. Johnny Lindsay could perhaps go into left centre-half but we will miss him on the left side as Jordon Lowdon is out with a broken nose.

“Kieran Stewart can play in the middle of the park so we will just have to get on with it. It will be a really tough game but it highlights how tight we are number-wise in our squad.

“Ironically, neither Kevin nor Scott were expected to be in the centre of our defence but they have done so well there that they are considered starters.”

On-loan St Johnstone midfielder Dylan Easton is in line for his first start, with Moore saying: “Dylan has been terrific in two substitute appearances and he is in my thoughts. It is one of our biggest games of the season and he could have a big impact in it.

“He was the victim of a really poor tackle in the game against Montrose last weekend but he will be OK for this game.”
