Terracing
If you’re a fan of a Premiership team, it might have been a while since you’ve stood on the terracing. Terracing is in no short supply in the rest of the SPFL – and with some especially enjoyable stadiums to stand at there’s never been a better time to re-live that experience. Check out Ayr United's Somerset Park, Arbroath's Gayfield, Forfar Athletic's Station Park and Albion Rovers' Cliftonhill for starters!
Queen's Park
Queen's Park are the oldest association football club in Scotland, founded in 1867. Queen's are the only fully amateur side in the SPFL, something which is reflected in their Latin motto, Ludere Causa Ludendi - 'to play for the sake of playing'. Queen's have a proud history, as 10-time winners of the Scottish Cup, in addition to two-time runners-up in the FA Cup. A visit to Hampden, the National Stadium, for a Queen's Park game can be a bit of a surreal experience, perhaps double it up with a visit to Cathkin Park, the former home of Third Lanark for a bit more history!
Scottish football's next big star?
While Lewis Morgan is now a Celtic player, having signed earlier in the transfer window, he remains at St Mirren for the rest of the season on loan. Undoubtedly one of the best players in the Championship so far this season, Morgan has been lighting up games and terrifying defenders. Not only that, but the Scotland U21 star has been instrumental in St Mirren's promotion challenge, scoring big goals against Dundee United, Morton and Queen of the South. Catch Morgan in Paisley as we're sure he'll be keen to keep impressing!
Stone Cold Stenhousemuir!
When you think about it, lower-league Scottish football and professional wrestling are two sides of the same coin – big, brawny men with shaven heads throwing each other around while a hot, vociferous crowd looks on. It is somewhat fitting, then, that Stenhousemuir FC run out to Stone Cold Steve Austin’s entrance music at every home game. Whether or not the Texas Rattlesnake’s theme tune has had the desired effect on the Warriors’ fortunes is another matter – the club were relegated last season and currently find themselves battling for a play-off place – but that sound of shattering glass and the insidious, chugging guitar can mean only one thing: business is about to pick up. Gimme a hell yeah!
