Falkirk defender David McCracken scored a crucial late winner against Hibernian recently and will be hoping to help the Bairns get the better of Dumbarton at the Bet Butler Stadium, live on BBC ALBA at 5.30pm.
The 33-year-old former Dundee United, Wycombe Wanderers, MK Dons, Brentford, Bristol Rovers and St Johnstone man is the latest player to fall under the SPFL Spotlight.
What is the best goal you have scored?
There are not that many to choose from! I will go for my most recent one against Hibs. It was a really important goal for the club and it was a good time to score as the game was goalless and we had just entered injury time. That win helped us put some momentum behind us in the league so everyone was delighted with it. For once, it was not a header but a shot from the edge of the box!
What is the best game you have played in?
That was for Dundee United in what was Henrik Larsson’s last game for Celtic at Parkhead in 2004. There was a huge crowd there and an amazing atmosphere at the game. United scored early and that added to things as Celtic really had to come out and attack us. The downside is that we lost 2-1 and needless to say Larsson scored both their goals.
What is your favourite away ground?
I played in a lot of good stadiums during my time in England but I never got to visit Old Trafford or Anfield so I will go for a Scottish ground - as a Glasgow boy I will go for one there. It has to be Parkhead, which is a great stadium and terrific atmosphere, and as a footballer you always want to play at grounds like that.
What is your favourite other sport?
I do not have another sport that I really watch or participate in, apart from the odd game of snooker. However, I am big into my fitness and have recently qualified as a Level 3 Personal Trainer and I enjoy that as opposed to another sport.
Which player in the world would you like to have played with?
I had a lot of favourites when I was growing up but I will go for Jamie Carragher at Liverpool. Being a defender myself, I appreciate what he brings to the game. He had great determination and a strong will to win and both Liverpool and England have missed him.
What is your favourite pre-match meal?
I have had a few throughout my career and at the moment it is scrambled eggs on toast and some beans - so not overly exciting.
What is your favourite music?
Dance Music – I am a bit of a raver for cheesy tunes. I may be in my 30s but I am still supplying the music for the games on a Saturday.
Who is the biggest moaner you have played with?
Charlie Miller at Dundee United. He never enjoyed a warm-up or anything that did not involve a ball. I have seen he has a book out and I will need to get a read to see if he agrees!
Who is your most skilful team-mate?
Charlie Miller is right up there despite his moaning but there is a boy at Falkirk, Craig Sibbald, and he is absolutely ridiculous. He has terrific feet and if I could do half of what he can do then I would be a much better player. You cannot get the ball off him in training and if you try too hard you will end up on your backside. He can go far in the game.
Who is your worst-dressed team-mate?
I have had a few over the years but I will go for my current Falkirk team-mate Will Vaulks. He thinks his gear is decent and will be hurt to find out that it is not.
Who is the best in training?
When I was at Wycombe Wanderers I played alongside Russell Martin, who has gone on to join Norwich and play for Scotland. He was always spot on in training and really looked after himself. He was League 2 then but wanted to go as far as he could and I knew then he had a chance.
Who is the best dancer at the club?
That has to be myself and I have witnesses to prove it. At St Johnstone I was involved in a dance off with Sean Higgins and I beat him although he nearly injured himself with some of the moves he was trying!
Craig Stewart
