Partick Thistle entertain St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Friday, live on BT Sport at 7.45pm.
We put Jags midfielder Ryan Stevenson, who made the move to Firhill from Tynecastle during the summer, under the SPFL Spotlight.
What’s the best goal you have scored?
That has to be my goal in the League Cup quarter-final last season for Hearts against Hibs at Easter Road. They had battered us in the first 15 minutes and our goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald kept us in the game. The ball got played up to me and I just turned and hit it as hard as I could. The combination of everything that was going on off the field with Hearts at the time, the youthful nature of our squad, as well as the game being at the home of their biggest rivals, makes it a really special goal – especially as it turned out to be the winner.
What’s the best game you have played in?
It has to be the League Final for Hearts against St Mirren in 2013, although we did not get the result we wanted. I scored twice in the 3-2 defeat and to do that in a packed ground in a major game was amazing. I had scored at Hampden before for Ayr United against Queen’s Park in front of a few hundred people and it was amazing to think how far my career had come by scoring twice in a final.
What is your favourite away ground?
Ibrox. We had a couple of uncomfortable afternoons results-wise with Hearts but it was always good to play there.
What is your favourite other sport?
I play a lot of golf with my mates down in Troon. I am a good 18-handicapper and have no plans to get that any lower!
What is your favourite pre-match meal?
It has to be chicken and pasta with no added sauce. I tend to have all my food quite plain and that is always the case on match days.
Who are your favourite band?
Erasure, which surprises a lot of people as they don’t associate all my tattoos with liking a band like that! I like a lot of music from the eighties – there are a few reunion concerts I am planning to go to.
How much of the World Cup did you watch?
I tried to watch all of it and would juggle around family commitments with my wife and son to get games watched. He is just two and a half but would sit and watch games, which was great. Thomas Muller was the outstanding player for me. He does not move in the most graceful way but he gets into tremendous positions and can score goals.
Who is the biggest moaner at the club?
Kallum Higginbotham - he does a ridiculous amount of moaning on the pitch! He is a cracking player and a real natural talent but a ridiculous moaner. He is one of the worst I have ever known but he is a great lad away from the pitch.
Who does the best football tricks at Partick Thistle?
Stevie Lawless is the wee magician of Thistle. Sometimes in training the only way you can get the ball off him is to kick him! Mehdi Taouil at Hearts was also unbelievable but you could not kick him as he was just too quick!
Who is the worst dressed at the club?
Aaron Muirhead. To be fair, he gives being stylish a go but it is not happening! The boys don’t let him get away with thinking he is smart.
Who is the best trainer?
Paul Gallacher. I have never seen a goalkeeper who is as fit as him and who works so hard despite being very experienced. He trains really hard every day and is a great example to everyone.
Who is the best dancer?
Christie Elliott. He thinks he has a bit about him but he doesn’t - he wins this one for trying.
Craig Stewart
