Julie Fleeting, capped 120 times by Scotland, helped carry out The Scottish Communities League Cup Second Round Draw along with her father Jim, who is the SFA Director of Development, and for the wife of well known goalkeeper, Colin Stewart, it was her second experience of being on the ‘other’ side of the desk.
Fleeting said: "I have drawn the teams out for the Scottish Cup before but this is my first Scottish Communities League Cup Draw."
It is also the first time in 13 seasons that Fleeting’s spouse has no direct interest in the pairings as she explained by saying: "Colin left Morton at the end of last season and he is now over working as a coach in Qatar. It is early days but it sounds a terrific job opportunity so he is going out for a wee while to see what is involved."
Fleeting spent the summer catching the action from the Women’s football event at the London Olympics and she was delighted with what she saw saying: "I followed the Olympics closely and the results went pretty much as expected. There were not a lot of surprises, results wise, but the quality was really good with a high number of games that were really exciting.
"It was a great showcase for women’s football and it was great to see so many of my former team-mates involved. There were about six or seven of my former team-mates from Arsenal playing for Team GB and it was great to see them do well by reaching the Quarter Finals before losing to Canada."
One of the stars of Team GB was Scotland player Kim Little and Fleeting reserved special praise for the 22-year-old saying: "Ifeoma Dieke was there as well but unfortunately, she was injured and missed the last couple of games. I have always thought that Kim was a fantastic player and it was great that the rest of the world got to see how good she is and she improved in every game. I played alongside her with Scotland and she was the same in the Olympics.
"In the last game against Canada, she was fantastic and unlucky to be on the losing side."
