At a disciplinary hearing today (Monday, 24 November) the SPFL Board charged Peterhead Football Club for playing Reece Donaldson in a league match whilst he was serving a Scottish FA suspension.
The defender, who was also charged at the hearing, played the full 90 minutes in Peterhead’s 3-2 win against Ayr United on November 15 this year in SPFL League One.
Peterhead and the player pled guilty to breach of SPFL Regulation 21 in the SPFL’s Player Registration, Transfer and Contract Regulations.
As a result, the club were censured, ordered to replay the game against Ayr United Football Club and fined £10,000 (part suspended). Reece Donaldson is suspended from playing in the replayed fixture.
The date of the replay is still to be arranged.
SPFL Chief Executive Neil Doncaster said: "In the interests of sporting integrity and fairness to both sides, the game will be replayed.”
